Day 2 of 1,001

Today is day 2 of the 101 tasks in 1,001 days challenge.

So... I came up with a few quotes for the list and actually completed it so I can say that I have completed one task.  I'll be posting the quotes tomorrow.

I also visited some Wikipedia Articles to knock half of another task off the list.

Jelgave Municipality is a town in Latvia.  It was formed in 2009 and has over 27,000 residents. Not much else to say on this one.

Don't ask me why my first two articles were about towns but Chardon Township, Geauga County, Ohio was my second article.  It was a bit longer than the first.  I found the shape of Geauga County a bit odd.  16 nearly identicle perfect square sized towns in a 4 x 4 grid would have been nice, except  they took one town and made it a different shape...I wonder why.  Joe Jurevicius who was a Wide Receiver in the NFL lives here.

Joachim Ammena van Plettenberg remarkably shares my birthday only about 250 years earlier than me.  He was formerly the governor of Capetown.  As any governor, it seems he did some good things and some not so good things.  Cool to read a bit of history that's far enough back for Capetown to be owned by a company and not necessarily a country.

The next article was regarding the Holy Cross Hospital (Fort Lauderdale).  It is a 557 bed Catholic hospital.  It was founded in 1955.

In an effort to get a head start, I decided on a 5th article for today marking this task halway complete.  I lucked out with Walter Barbare.  He was a third baseman and shortstop who played for the Cleveland Indians, my beloved Boston Red Sox, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Boston Braves.  He played 500 games and hit a grand total of 1 home run.  He was a .260 hitter and had 156 RBI's.  He also apparently was an excellent fielder and had a strong arm.  Post his playing career, he managed and umpired in the Minor Leagues.

Lastly, I watched Atlantic City which was nominated for an Oscar for Best picture back in 1982.  It was remarkably free with my Amazon Prime subscription.  The movie started out with Susan Sarandon taking a lemon bath nearly topless.  It was an interesting movie but I found it kind of long.
