A New Adventure Begins

Updated 12/2/2015

Welcome to my new adventure!!

I’m a lists person.  I write things down and cross them off.  It’s what I do.  I’m a planner.  I plan my daily work, I plan my employees’ daily work and I live my life off of lists.  I do annual lists for personal goals although I rarely share them.  This time, I’m going to make myself accountable by sharing the list.  I’ve been contemplating putting together a bucket list because frankly, I’ve always wanted to do it and I happened to wander across a blog about 101 things to do in 1,001 days.  It is a sort of bucket list with a deadline.  The idea is to complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1,001 days or about 2.75 years.  The tasks must be specific, measurable, realistic and a bit stretching.

I like this idea because it is not so morbid as a bucket list and it has a deadline that isn’t too close and isn’t so far away it is an obstacle.  I’m going to start the list December 1, 2015.  The 1,001st day...the deadline...drop dead date, is August 1, 2018.  A lot can change between now and then but I’m going to give this list an honest effort.  I see a lot of blogs out there with essentially a lot of failed lists.  Lists started in 2009, 2010 that have 80 items left to go.

Below is my list.  I thought for a long time on this list and I believe it is all achievable however will take a considerable amount of effort.  Some of these things I have already started so I will start fresh some goals while others I worded differently so as to merely complete the task.  Some of them are a little weird, but that's ok because that's me.

My list is defined around a number of fairly loose themes.

My goal of the list is to have a bit of fun but positively affect the lives of myself and those close to me.  I want to form new habits that will carry me through the rest of my life (hopefully) and keep me motivated for success.

Tomorrow, I will fill you in on what I plan on tackling in December 2015 for the first 31 days of this 1,001 day challenge.

Wildcat A 11/13/2015

OK, time to knock #47 off of the list.

Left home Early, arrived at the 19 mile brook trailhead early...which I just parked at for another hike a few months ago.

A bit into the hike, I came across a section of relocated trail and a brand new bridge crossing the brook here.

It was pretty cool to see the completed bridge.  I saw it midway completed a few months ago.  It will last for years to come.

I made it to the Wildcat Ridge trail fairly quickly.  The weather is cool and supposed to turn snowy/rainy in the afternoon so I rushed it a bit up the mountain.  The views were limited and I had zero trouble on Wildcat Slide.  It wasn't slippery at all.

I made it to the summit and got some good views into Maine.

Also, at the summit was ice.  It looked like the trees got covered in rime ice and the ice melted and fell in chunks.  It looked like someone took a bag of ice cubes and spread it across the forest floor.

All in all a great day for #47.   It's official, my 48 finish will be on Liberty.  Here's hoping it's sooner rather than later.
