Annual Father Son Backpacking Trip Day 1 6/13/2015

So for the past 2 years, my father and I have gone backpacking together in June. 2 Years ago, my 2 brothers came and we 4 days in the Pemi. Last year, we hit the Kinsmans and Moosilauke and this year we hit the Presi's.  My father says every year I try to kill him so I can get whatever small inheritance there is and every year I fail.  In 2013 our longest day was about 10 Miles, in 2014 our longest day was about 11.  This year we hit 15 Miles.

We were excited and ready for a thumbs up.  We started the day at the railroad tracks on route 302 on the Appalachian Trail where we finished 2 years ago.

We really enjoyed the views from the Webster Cliffs.

We even eventually made it to the Summit of Webster where we took some time to eat lunch.

I love the panoramic function on my new iPhone.

After a little more than another mile, we hit the summit of Jackson.  This is my third summit of Jackson but the first that was not in winter.

Another 1.7 miles and we hit the Mizpah Spring Hut which is the last of the huts for me.  I have now officially seen them all.  We set up camp next to it at the Nauman Tentsite for a total of 6.7 miles on the day with 3,400' of elevation gain.  Tomorrow is the big day of the trip.
